The contact owns a 2007 Ford F-150. While parked, the contact noticed flames coming from the grill of the vehicle and from under the hood. The fire department was called to the scene and a fire report was filed. The cause of the fire was undetermined. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The contact owns a 2000 Ford F150. The contact stated that while driving 5 mph, there was noise from the vehicle and the spark plugs began misfiring. The vehicle was driven home where a mechanic inspected the failure and advised the contact that the plugs were fractured and were blown from the compartment. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was notified who stated there were no recalls. They offered no other assistance. The failure mileage was 175,000.
The vehicle was parked in front of my home, and about 30 minutes after the vehicle was parked, it caught fire. The vehicle had been turned off for about 30 minutes before it began to smoke and then caught fire and flames burned through the entire front of the vehicle. The fire then spread and burned through the tire before the fire department was able to contain and put out the flames.
