I have the same crack in my door everyone else has. Went through a Ford lot last night and half the used 150's had same crack! talked to dealer and they said I had to pay half to get door fixed. Ford know's about this and if they want me to keep buying their products they need to fix this problem.
Door crack developed in door about three inches up post on back side of glass area. Most F-150's 1997 - 2000 I have looked at have the same crack. Ford claims normal wear but have a repair kit. I can't see how this is normal since they have a repair kit and replacement door. This should require a recall, please investigate.

Sheet metal is cracked at the lower right side of the driver's side window area. It looks like a stress fracture from the action of the window going up and down, during normal operation.
The driver's side door has a crack in the metal and we contacted the dealer and he advised although there is no recall Ford has engineered a "door repair kit" and they are willing to fix this defect for a cost of $675.63. If this is not a defect then just why would Ford make this door repair kit" this is a separation of metal and the concern we have is if there is an accident what will keep this door from possibly causing a death. I have been in contact with several people who have this exact same issue and Ford customer service turns a deaf ear. How do we get this problem to be recognized as a defect by Ford Motor Company" I know if you put the question to the public in regards to how many Ford full size trucks have this problem you will have a major response.
There is crack at door. Dealer states that crack is there because of opening and closing window. They call it a stress fracture. Dealer was notified and wanted consumer to pay 10 % to get the problem fixed. Consumer stated that the door crack was half way up the door from bottom of window. The dealer stated that it was a stress fracture from rolling the window up and down. The window makes noise due to crack. The door crack was fixed but cracked again.
I am experiencing what Ford describes as cracks in the door sheet metal on the driver's side door. This may be due to the repeated use of power windows leading to metal fatigue. The truck isn't but 2 years old; this should not happen.
Metal paneling for driver door is cracking right below the window. Both doors keep jumping out of alignment making it difficult to close the doors, and it is also scratching the exterior paint. Also, metal roof is beginning to collapse in on passenger compartment. Dealership informed consumer that stress on passenger compartment could be causing these problems, but cannot determine what is causing the stress. Please provide any additional information / documentation.
Submitting this form after noticing a crack had formed in the door skin in the lower right opening where the window is. Noticed this defect in many vehicles like mine and although am aware of a quick fix that Ford is performing, I do not believe this is satisfactory dur to the price and age of the vehicle. Feel that this requires a new door with strengthened points where the cracks have appeared. The cracking points to weakened structural integrity and possibly a safety hazard in an accident as the door structure is weakened.
I have read a number of complaints about the crack in door of this vehicle since the new body style changed in 1997 and it still hasn't been corrected. It seems to me there is a weakness in the sheet metal in the doors and it has me concerned should I be in an accident involving a side impact. We all know how a tire can kill someone so lets not wait till someone gets hurt before we realize there is a problem here. Thank you, william E. carlisle.
Driver door frame has a crack approxiamately 1/2 inch long, right side of window frame. Continues to expand, repaired once, but reappeared the very next day. Door must be replaced completely. The integrity of the structure has been compromised, in the event of an accident, door will buckle causing severe harm to driver.
