This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
I got in a accident with a deer and was talking with repair personal. When one asked if I was having any trouble with my door. I said it shakes when hitting bumps. I was worried about the door flying open when roll over occur. He said they have seen alot of them cracking right at the window base then we looked at mine and it was cracked also. He said that the dealer was fixing the crack for free but when I called the dealer they said no they were not fixing the doors. This is a factory defect and might be the cause of death because of improper fit. Inthe case of a roll over the door may come open more freely.
Driver side door has cracked now for the 2nd time in the same place. The truck was repaired at bob townsend Ford in cincinnati, oh and when I returned to show the dealer that the door was cracked again I was told by the service mgr that sometimes stuff like that happens. I have noticed the same crack in the same spot on other Ford including the 97 model. I want my door repaired by Ford! I was told by bob townsend Ford that I would have to pay for repair out of my pocket. It is very clear that Ford knows about the problem but is unwilling to honor its so called quality care program to its customers.
There is a crack in the sheet metal on the drivers side door which has started to rust the Ford Motor Co. Denies any problem and refused to cover cost of repair, because it has 53,000 miles and I did not purchase the truck new.
When rolling up window it pushes on door frame and produces crack on door handle, below right window lower portion of vehicle. Dealership was aware of problem.
Drivers side door has a crack in near the bottom right corner of drivers side window. The crack appears to be structural in nature. It is approximately 1.5" in length from the interior edge of the sheet metal extending out to beyond the end of the window molding.
Doors have a electrical shock. When exiting trhrough doors from vehicle consumer will get an electrical shock. Dealership is aware of the problem. The electrical shock happens only to the driver not passengers. The driver thinks a build up of static electricity is being transferred by starter, steering colulmn, gas and brake pedal. The starter, the cruise control system, catalytic convertor and exhaust system had been replaced to solve this problem, but the problem still continues.
This vehicle has developed a visible stress fracture of the door sheetmetal starting under the aft weather strip for the window and extending aft along the door. This is the first notice of this problem which seems to be common to this make and model vehicle.
The crack is located in the sheet metal right next to the door locks. I am going to my Ford dealer tomorrow to have this looked at. I can only hope that he fixes this defect. This truck cost a lot of money.
There is a crack on the driverside door where the widowsill starts to curve. I have had it welded once and it reappeared the same day I got my truck home. The air conditioner smells like mold whenever I use it. It has been worked on five times to correct the problem but it still persists.
