This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
On 97's and up the doors are cracking just above the door handles on the outside there is service bulletins on my 98 telling of these cracks just about everyone I talk to has this problem and didn't know anything about it. Ford wants to pay 80%,I feel they should have a recall on all of them and pay it all.
Both the driver's and passanger's doors have sheet metal failure next to the lower rear corner of the window. Crack is approximately 1/2 inch long and appears to be growing. Dealer says Ford knows of this issue but is not covering it.
Driverside door has a 1/2" crack in sheet metal around window. Took truck to nearest dealership and they blew me off. Called Ford Motor Company, they also blew me off. Ford has numerious trucks in the 1997-98 year having same problem. They won't do any nessicary repairs. They should have a recall, due to the fact that this is a manufacturing defect.
My truck has a crack in the outside body sheet metal near the corner of the drivers window on the door. Dealership where I bought it says nothing they can do because it is out of warranty. This crack is due to maufactures defect. I need help in bearing the cost of repair. NHTSA item # SB608461 / service bulletin # 99-6754
The door crack is at the base of the lower window structure. The crack will continue to increase in size further weakening the door strength. It is unknow if the door will remain intact during collision. Personal survey results : 62 vehicles examined, 52 had cracks, 2 were repaired under warranty by manufacturer.
I have noticed a small crack forming in the metal on the driver side door. If your facing the door form the outside, the crack is located by the lower right hand corner of the window. After doing some research I have found that this is a problem in many newer model Ford trucks.
Crack developing in driver's side door sheet metal on aft post. Approximately 1/4" long. Have not contacted dealer. Personally inspected 5 other like trucks and found all to have similar cracks.
Both driver's side and passenger's side doors have cracked. Both doors were replaced. However, problem has reoccurred on the driver side. Consumer has contacted dealer.
Driver side door has a 3/4 inch crack developing from about 1" from the rounding from the bottom rear corner of the outside window molding (metal part of the door) and have notice avery Ford 150 I've look at has this door crack. And over hafe of have them have them on both driver & passenger doors. There seem to be a disign flaw that Ford Motor Company doesn't want to say yes to. And fix the flaw and not just put a band-aid fix on it. You spend any where's from 22,000 to 29,000 not including tax and all they are going to do is drill weld and bondo. That's a poor engneering design. I could under stand if the truck only costed $1000 not only is there a safety concern for starters. Lets get to the bottom of this once and for all?
Crack developing on door, at rear side of window, 2" above bottom of window. Almost every F-150 owner who's heard of this problem has taken a look at his/her truck and found same problem. Ford not making any effort to remedy.
