While driving down freeway with A/C on and blower motor stopped working, cabin was filled with smoke from dashboard. Consumer hit brakes and front tire tread came off.consumer spun out on freeway, took to dealer, and thats were it is now. Continental general amer 550 radial, size 23570R6 tires.
Original equipment on Ford F150, 1997 with 20,000 miles. Driving at approximately 25 mph in wet weather when right rear tire rubber tread came off, causing vehicle to lose control and run into ditch. There was some body damage. Tire is still inflated. Tire size P23570R16, dot W2081pt126.
Was getting front end aligned due to vehicle drifting to the right. Mechanic noticed that tire tread was separating on all 4 tires. Firestone, wilderness ht, P235/70R16 with 52,000 miles. Dot#W2081pt296.
Are we doing anything about tires blowing out for these vehicle" any warranty claim" the tire in question is a Firestone P235-70R16101045. (claim# 43-R491-464)
PE-00-020; original equipment, Firestone wilderness httires P23570R16, dot number W2081pt227, not sure how many miles was put on the tires. When driving consumer heard a knocking noise coming from rear end. Also, vibration in front end of vehicle. Stopped and inspected vehicle, and noticed tread had started to separate from the tires. Consumer has contacted the dealer.
Tire blew out and vehicle rolled. Tire is 255/70-16. Policyholder called concerning any sub against Firestone. Tires invloved are Firestone wilderness tires, size 255/70-16(steel belted radial). (claim# 33-0235-399)
Firestone: Tire failure-insured advised tire blew. Insured lost conrol of vehicel, hit another car and then a telephone pole. Wilderness ht P235/70/R16 tire. (claim# 43-R535-077)
Tire treads came off Firestone tire on I.V. and caused damage to fender & muffler. A. 390 claim. S. possible. Firestone wilderness ht P235/70R16 104S lost tread and damaged pick-up. Ni and he stated thta the tire is in the back of truck and that the tire had 35,000 miles on it and is two years only, ni has stated that he was reviewed information on lawsuit pending on tire over the internet on the same tire, ni went to Firestone and they refused to assist ni, ni could not give make or model of tire, moved to F/O for handling. This tire is not on the recall list. It failed like the recalls in that the tread seperated from the car casing. You could put your hand under the tread and pull it away from the casing. I had all the tires replaced. Firestone nor Ford would help me in getting compensated for the failure. (dot number: Dotw2081pt tiresize: P235/70R16)
Two factory original tires suffered tread separation at highway speeds in summer desert conditions. One tire had 43,000 miles and the other about 45,000 miles. Separation occured within several months of each other. Dealer was notified when the second event occured about 1 month prior to the reports about the Firestone tires. Ford was not very interested and I could get no information on the number of failures of this type of tire. I still have one tire. General tire wants to get it back. I had my tires inspectected the day the NHTSA issued a warning that included my tire model. Upon inspection, it was discovered that the tread had begun to separate from the tire; the steel belts are protruding from the bottom of the sidewall. I had the tires replaced immediately, but later found that I would not be reimbursed because the tires were not manufactured in Decatur, il. They were manufactured in quebec. Tread separation problem as on the 15" sizes, tire did not blow, had correct tire pressure, Firestone product liabilities section paid for the damage, but Firestone would not reimburse me for new tires purchased as this size is not in recall.
