I did not cause the engine to fail. The defective parts did, however cause me to have the engine completly overhauled. There was a "chewed" up rod. I have the manifold gasket and the bad rod in my possession and would be glad to show any representative interested.
I have contacted Ford Motor Co. By phone & email and they say they will get back w/me and never do. There is no follow up on their part. No customer service and no satisfaction. The customer service ended at the signing of the bill of sale. No safety defect.
Noticed in early 11/2000 that engine made a "ticking" sound on startup. Started using higher octane gas and used an oil treatment. "tick" went away. Drove home on the evening of 11/17/2000 and parked the truck. Got in the truck on the morning of 11/20/2000 and the engine would not turn. I had the battery checked out - it was good. I had the truck towed to a repair shop (non-dealer) and was told that the engine had locked up. The truck in currently in the process of have the engine replaced.
After several recalls were repaired there was no oil pressure in engine. Dealership has informed consumer that vehicle needed a new engine. Please provide any additional information/attachments.

Consumer was traveling about 40 mph on highway and heat level line stayed in red zone. He added coolant into engine. Vehicle was okay. The vehicle was leaking due to timing chain cover failure.
This vehicle was purchased new in June, 1997. Beginning in November, 2000 I have experienced numerous problems, mainly with the engine and electrical system. The vehicle has been out of my possession for almost 3 months now and I am out of pocket over $3,000 in repair work. I have contacted Ford Motor Co. Both in writing and calling their customer service department, and they have offered no assistance and basically have told me the problems are not their concern. I have had a front timing cover gasket replaced, major engine repair work, spark plugs changed, electrical wires replaced, and now a "computer brain" was bad in the vehicle. The truck's check engine light remains on and the truck still hesitates, stalls and lurches while driving, which is not safe. I have no where to turn and obviously no money left to put in to this vehicle. I don't understand how a 3 year old truck, purchased brand new can have so many problems, I can't seem to get an answer from anybody, including Ford.
"tick" noticed at startup. Towed to delaership, diagnosed as bent rod. Total engine replacement under warranty. There was no symptoms until total failure. Why did this happen and more importantly, is it going to happen again. Engine replacement estimated at over $4000. Please provide info on similar failures via email.
Truck was taken to dealer on 11/22/2000 due to owner detection of water in oil. Dealer found no problems with any foreign substance in the oil and engine checked ok. On 01/15/2001 the engine check light came on. Several miles later, engine attempted to stall at 50 mph with all dashboard lights activated. Clutch was depressed and raced to prevent stall. Engine recovered after a few yards and was driven home. Truck was taken back to dealer and was told that the crankshaft bearings were the cause of the failure and that Ford would replace the engine if owner agreed to pay $500 of the cost.
Engine was replaced due to damage in the lower block, rough running, backfire, stalling, and knocking at cold start up, after the replacement there was again excessive vibration at idle, consumer requests reimbursement.
Purchased vehicle new in April 1997. From the third week of owning vehicle, engine shakes, sputters, and stalls when driving. Ford has attempted 13 times to fix problem. They replaced the engine long block on 7/24/00. Engine exhibited the same problem less then 1000 miles later. Ford once again replaced only (bad parts) in long block this time. Till this date engine still exhibits same problem. Ford's position is their representatives made the decision my vehicle is fine, so I'm stuck with it. Today, Oct 22, I have another appoitment because of a loud rattle and engine problems. If requested, I can submit all invoices.
Consumer received Ford recall #99B29 (replacement of the pitted timing gear cover which caused coolant leakage), however after repair the engine required repair due to spun bearings which was directly caused by the coolant leakage.
While driving vehicle stalls unexpectedly when coming to a stop, which may cause a crash. Also, problems with defective braking system which causes extended stopping distance. Dealer cannot determine any cause. When you begin to drive and try to stop, the brakes lock up.
While driving heared a clicking noise that gradually got louder and louder. Took vehicle to dealer, and they said it may be the motor. Consumer had just taken car in a couple of days before for recall repairs. 2 days later, this clicking noise started.
