front tank is leaking to back tank
Bought a 1990 F F150 for my son. This Truck has duel tanks. The problem is that the Front tank spills into the Back tank witch causes the Bank Tank to OVERFLOW!
Ford Knows there was a problem on these truck but nobody will do anything to help! the was a NHTSA Campaign #01I00800. But they have said that expired! Really? How does a safety recall EXPIRE? I have attached the recall notification.

Summary: This is not a safety recall in accordance with the Safety Act. However, it is deemed a safety improvement campaign by the Agency. Vehicle description: 1990-1993 Ford F-series vehicles equipped with dual fuel tanks and 4.9, 5.0,5.8, or 7.5 liter gasoline fueled engines. Some vehicles can experience a cross tank fuel flow condition due to a damaged check valve in the fuel pump/sender assembly. Fuel may be supplied from one tank and some or all of the unused fuel may be returned to the other tank.
Consequence: Should this occur, the capacity of the receiving tank may be exceeded and fuel may overflow from the filler cap.
Actions: Ford is extending the warranty for potential fuel cross-flow to 12 years of service or 150,000 miles from the vehicle's warranty start date, whichever occurs first. This cover will automatically transfer to subsequent owners at no charge. If a vehicle already has more than 150,000 miles, this overage will last until December 31, 2001. If the vehicle is experiencing a fuel cross-flow condition, dealers will repair the condition free of charge. Talked to Ford and they WILL NOT STAND BEHIND THERE TRUCK, that they know has an issue with the tank. BS! Then I calle Performance Ford in Omaha, NE and spoke with MIKE (I think I was interupting something because he did not want to help at!) I asked MIKE, if he coule look a VIN# up to see if there is a recall on it? His answer was, Auhh, I guess. Of course there was not. No suggestions to Helep what so ever.
Brought it to my local machanic and he says he can't even get Ford to call him bakc about the parts he needs to fix the Issue. Very disappointed in ford.
I have to atleaast once a week Siphon the Back tank, so it does not over flow and cause a fire. We can't fill the front tank up, because if we do it will over flow the bact tank.
