My 2007 Ford Explorer Sport Trac has a shudder between the speeds of 35-50 mph. Usually happens when I start to go up an incline and I apply a little pressure to the gas pedal. I have had it in the local Ford garage. They cleaned the throttle body charged me $95.00 and said they are not sure what is causing the problem. Said to call them if the problem came back. I didn't get a mile from the garage and it started doing the same thing.
I immediately called them and told them it was doing the same thing. They said they didn't have an answer for it but if I found out what was causing it to let them know! The other day I took a spray bottle of water out and sprayed the coils and spark plugs with water the engine idled down from about 1000rpms to 500rpms. I took it for a ride and I had the most acceleration response from the vehicle that I ever had. It felt like I added a 100 horse power to the engine. Also the shutter was very minimal. But the following day I drove the vehicle about 75 miles and the shudder was back as bad as ever and it didn't seem to have the throttle response that it had the day before. I have had the plugs and coils replaced this year.
