In 2008 my Sport Trac start squealing on the right passenger side, near the transmission, and the front wheel well. My car has gone in 5 times for this same noise since October of 2008. They have changed the belts twice, they have changed out all of the front brakes and calipers, they have adjusted the hood, still the squeal returns. This has been very frustrating and nobody can seem to identify the problem. Today my vehicle lost power, spewed coolant, and overheated. Not sure if they are related but I am a bit tired of this. I have asked for the pulley alignment to be checked this time as well as the transmission. Running out of options.

FORD sport trac started making a loud chirping noise mostly on wet/humid or rainy days. Then it got worst - it started making the noise all the time - worst when the AC is turned "ON". The mechanic started trouble shooting for problems. We notice that harmonic balancer was wasting away and was badly damaged causing the belt to tear and wear out quickly.

We've since order the Harmonic Balancer - and now we find that the part is in back order, our local FORD supplier has 256 pieces on back order, and checking online we've gotten similar complaint from other suppliers in and out of our area - this sounds like a RECALL issue!!!

We continue to wait on the part it is now week number 3... great going FORD.

This problem has really occurred since I have owned the vehicle, however taken it in twice and nothing ever found. What I am hearing is sometimes on rainy days.. sounds like the belt (fan, serpetine, not sure) is slipping.. sounds like a slipping fan belt during hot days as well. Just never know.. I also hear, what sounds like belt rubbing.. cant describe the sound, but when I apply pressure to the gas pedal, i hear the increase of this noise as well.. it happens more often when a cold start occurs and the first 20 or so miles driven.. sometimes it loud and lasts a few second.. other times it sounds like its a soft noise and with me all day when I'm driving.. I've gotten used to it, but really would like to know how to diagnose and get fixed.

The dealership basically has seen me twice on this in the past and thinks Im crazy.. but then again, most of the guys in the service department are strange too.. great work, just strange personalities.. so what can I say.. HELP.. if you have similar problem, Id like to know so it can be reported and this complaint updated accordingly.
