have extremely loud squealing under hood....used belt dressing, then changed belt out. turned off a/c and still had squealing. will check the crankshaft pulley, harmonic balancer, and vibration damper pulley. before we change out water pump or alternator.we also thought it could be the belt tensioner.
Update from Oct 27, 2011: the problem was crankshaft pulley harmonic dampner. part cost was $200.00 and labor was $85/hr. plus they had to take the radiator off to get to the nut on the pulley to take it off. they had to put in new antifreeze into the radiator once they put that back in.about another $45.00.
Update from Oct 27, 2011: Cost was $335. our warranty is over.
