One day I went to close the hatch after shopping and crack! I think Ford should replace this, because this seems to be a pretty common problem with owners of this vehicle.

cracked rear hatch

A crack developed from top to bottom in the tailgate plastic exterior panel, to the left of the Ford emblem. The separation is enough to put my thumbnail in it. No exterior trauma occurred to the vehicle. Both the local Ford dealer and the Ford Customer Relationship Center feel that they have "appropriately addressed" my concern by doing nothing because Ford has not issued a recall. Ford should pay for replacement of this defective material. It is an embarrassment to me to be driving a vehicle whose exterior is damaged. If I sell my vehicle, what dollar loss will I see? I am writing a letter to the Board of Directors of Ford Motor Company, P.O. Box 685, Dearborn, MI 48126-0685. If you are a customer experiencing this same problem, please contact the Board of Directors as well. Include a picture and refer to this website. Customers need to bombard the Directors with complaints to make them understand their responsibility to their customers.

cracked rear hatch

Looks terrible. Unfixable unless you take it to a dealer and pay at least $500 for it with no guarantees that it won't happen again. Fact that Ford will do nothing about it makes me want to purchase another brand of vehicle next time.

This really makes my car look bad and isn't good advertisement for ford. I have owned 4 fords,Aerostar and 3 explorers and this is a shame for Ford Company not to take responsibility for their work! The crack runs from bottom of window down around the ford emblem and is very noticeable, it will only crack more and I do not have the extra cash to fix it.

Two large cracks in Rear hatch. No issues with car one day and the next noticed two large cracks. One week later the pins holding the rear hatch literally broke off sending the rear hatch to the ground. Called Ford and they told me there is nothing they can do. What !!!! They said there have been no recalls issued and that these are not deemed as hazards and a recall would not be issued. A rear hatch falling off is not a hazard.! Wake Up Ford!! Why can't something be done to assist us !! Why is Ford getting off the hook...........is it going to take someone getting seriously injured before they wake up!!
