New 2020 Ford Explorer purchased on 5/1 - the oil light came on 6/8. I checked oil - 3.5 quarts low. I took it to the dealer on 6/9. The dealer said they repaired it and gave the vehicle back on 6/13. They said it was a leak out of the dipstick. This made no sense to me. The next day there was oil under the car.
I took the car back 6/15. They reported to me it was the transmission, and that the oil cooler had a small hairline fracture. Which I guess is possible, but it still doesn't make sense why the car was so low on oil after less than 10k miles. The dealer called back the next day and informed me the rear main seal was the culprit, leaking oil. He then proceeded to tell me that "it's seeping, not really a leak, and check the oil every couple of 1000 miles and you should be fine".
I'm waiting on a correct repair now.
