The contact stated that while attempting to open the front driver-??s side door from the inside, the chrome plating fractured, causing the contact-??s hand to get struck. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that there were no recalls on the vehicle for the failure. The contact was instructed to contact the local dealer for the repair and to report the failure to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000.
