my complaint on 2018 Ford explorer - full transmission replacement Hello,
I have a recent dangerous situation with my car. I bought the car brand new and have never missed a recommended service.
My car has 70,000 miles (6 years old). Gosh Ford is telling me the whole transmission needs to be replaced, due to the torque converter clutch dragging, to the tune of $8,000 (you can image my reaction).
So, I'm starting to research if this is happening to other Ford Explorer 2018 owners, and I have come across several complaints with the same problem.
My question is
1. Do I have any recourse to have the dealer fix this problem free of charge?
2. Should the dealer have sent out a recall on this DANGEROUS issue?
3. Is the dealer ignoring the dangerous situations and problems with the transmission?
4. Is Ford reliable for the transmission failure on my car that is only 6 years old, and for other Ford owners cars of the same?
This car being only 6 years old, left me in a dangerous situation on the road while driving and at a complete stop,
the car violently shakes while stopped and then hesitated while on the gas pedal, while driving the car was pulling and seem to want to stop or not have any getty up . The car would not accelerate when I stepped on the gas pedal and then surged forward.
Apparently there's a known issue about the Torque Converter, where it will prematurely go BAD. Ford already has a replacement part available, but in the early stages of COVID, it took FOREVER to get the replacement part.
