2d purchase (2017 Explorer lemon) July. Navigation & Display, rebooted and froze up 1st week of ownership. Took it to dealer, battery was discon/recon by the salesman, said it was a common problem. Took 2 trips back to back in Oct. 1st trip in SC we missed the interstate exit because the Navigation froze up on screen and said turn in 5 miles. Buttons wouldn't work, radio, temp and clock was froze. All other buttons work. After realizing, made a u turn and followed our phones. Restarted car, seemed to work for a few miles. 2d time in Ga, 1 mile from exit and the nav said 13 miles to turn, noticed the clock was 1hr behind. Got to destination and radio would not shut off, disconnected battery and did a Master Reset, (lost all memory settings) fixed for a while. 2d NC trip: 1 week later, rebooted-black screen, twice display froze up again and radio would not shut off at destination-disc battery.
Called 1 800 Sync number in owners manual. We had already accomplished all their recommendations(Disconnect battery, master reset and push the radio vol and seek buttons at the same time). They said it was probably the A pin module. To the dealer we go; at 1st they downplayed it until they figured out we had done our research. They diagnosed the A pin module and said it was good, an upgrade was done with a thumb drive. So far so good. I'm finding out more people has had this issue and Ford still hasn't come up with a fix. Don't rely on Ford's navigation/electronics. See Youtube.
