Took vehicle in to reattach the a-pillar window trim at a Ford dealer Oct 2020. They charged me $670 to make this repair. They supposedly replaced the clips that holds these trim pieces down. Fast forward to next spring, the a-pillars are starting to come back off making an irritating rattling noise. To avoid another outrageous repair cost for almost nothing I used a window adhesive to hold these down. This worked but the adhesive needed to be reapplied after each winter. Fast forward again to 2024 and this is now a recall. I am going to try and get reimbursed something for this botched repair that never fixed the issue. Upon further inspection the 2020 repair I got for this consisted of cheap double stick velcro.............I could have done this for $20.00 or less.......
I will come back and post a video however the trim around the front window is cracking and flying off as I drive. The pieces of the actual car are loose as well and look like they are getting ready to fly off. The car is literally falling apart.
The inner trim with the weather stripping started breaking and flapping when my Explorer was about 2 years old. Now the outer trim on the right side has completely blown off while driving down the interstate. This could have caused a wreck and been a bad situation. You expect for your vehicle to not fall apart as it drives down the interstate at 80 miles per hour.
Windshield trim on drivers side flew off. I have had a few recalls for my vehicle and this has yet to be classified as a recall item. Not a good feeling traveling down the hwy with your wife 16 year old daughter and 6 year old twins to have parts flying off your vehicle!
I would hope they fix this at their cost not the consumers.

To repair this I was quoted $650.00. I was told my Vin is not listed for this repair to be covered by Ford, which I feel is total BS. It's the right year for vehicles having this issue, but not the right Vin #. So, Ford is saying that only one plant got bad parts? Not possible other plants could have the same issue? Really? I think not!!
Both Windshield trim pieces (left and right) detached while driving on the highway at 70MPH. They dislodged banging the side and top of my car the disconnected and nearly hit the car behind me.
I went to the local Ford dealer they gave me a Ford customer service number to call. When I called they acknowledged they were aware of the problem but no recourse at this time. The cost to replace the parts is over $750.00.
The windshield trim on my Ford explorer began to deteriorate about a year after owning the vehicle. Specifically, the rubber molding strip started to crack and sort of disintegrate. One day while driving on the highway, The molding piece started to flap around in the wind, smacking against the windshield and the driver's side window. It was shocking and honestly I am lucky it did not cause an accident.
We ended up cutting the loose rubber piece off, but since then, all of the rubber molding on both the driver and passenger side has come completely off. I have watched youtube videos on how to replace the 4 parts necessary to fix the windshield molding issues, since I'd rather not pay Ford $1,000 to fix a problem that they should own up to and rectify.
2nd time in 3 months... I paid out of pocket to fix the 1st time and then it happened again!!! Ford needs to recall the Window trim and fix this before someone gets hurt, when these are flying off while people are driving down the road!!
This 1st flew off of my car on my way home from work in rush hour traffic in downtown Fort Worth, I was going about 75 mph and it flew off into the traffic behind me. A very scary experience. Luckily I didn't hurt anyone. It is an ugly eyesore and I feel like Ford needs to recall and fix this for good. I tried to fix it myself by buying the replacement trim online and having my husband fix it at home. The fix job lasted until July 4th when on my way home from the lake, then once again driving about 75 mph down the highway with a car behind me... the thing snapped and broke again.
I could seriously injure someone by this flying off going down the road... not to mention the car I have to pay $525 a month for is basically falling apart. It was no fault of my own... I have already had 5 other recalls fixed on this thing!!!
Without warning of any kind, the passenger side window trim came off at highway speeds. No previous signs of it being damaged or even something wrong with it. Call Ford and first thing they tell me was to take it to dealer and they will get what I need. I asked them "at Ford's cost, right". No, not at their cost...
First the weatherstripping came away and half blew off the car. The dealer says it's not covered on my extended warranty. You have to replace the molding which is over $300.00. I glued it back in. Now the weatherstripping on the other side is coming off and I already lost some on the parkway. I have been told that the molding will fly off sooner or later.
Panel surrounding front windshield on drivers side flew off while driving on I-75. One half of the panel stayed partially attached and was flapping in the wind and the other half flew off the vehicle and thank God did not hit the any of the cars behind me.This could have caused a major accident from the flying panel from the vehicle. I called our Ford dealership and they are aware of the problem and said this is covered under warranty. Ford is aware of this happening in years past too, They should issue a recall before lawsuits result.
