window/ windshield trim coming off

Driving south on I-135 north of Wichita, KS, I heard a pop then thumping on my driver side window. I had heard this sound before, and I’ll tell you I was so mad I couldn’t see straight. I pulled off the highway and into a gas station parking lot to see what the heck was going on, and to my disbelief it was the same freaking problem I had with the passenger side of the windshield two years prior. Windshield seal failed, approximately 9 inches in length, and beating the heck on my side window.

Duck tape bought, seal temporarily fixed, call to dealership. I’M HOPPING MAD, man…

Explain the situation to my service advisor, my original advisor had quit, so had to explain everything from the first incident and now this one.

I told service advisor I wanted to speak to someone about this situation because I don’t see how this could happen twice. I was told I should contact Ford customer support to raise a complaint. My information was taken, my complaint documented, and a resolution researched while I was put on hold. When the agent returned I was informed that there was nothing Ford was going to do to assist me with repairing this issue and there were no funds available to help pay for the repairs.

Of course not covered by warranty - I made an appointment and took it to the dealership today, August 14, 2023. Another $500 out of pocket for a repair on something that should never have failed.

Windshield seals should not fail. I have never seen this issue before. It is very concerning.

window/ windshield trim coming off

On my way to Houston from Wichita to attend a wedding, I had just crossed the Red River into Texas and I started hearing a thumping sound. The thumping got louder and louder and then I was startled by something beating on my passenger side front window. It scared the crap out of me as I was driving 75: miles per hour. When I realized it wasn’t an animal, I pulled off the highway to investigate, and was shocked to find that the windshield rubber seal had failed. The seal that came loose was about 9 inches long and had been slapping against my front passenger window and pillar leaving marks.

I drove to the first store I saw and purchased a roll of duck tape to prevent the seal from further damaging my vehicle and to secure the seal. Once I had the temporary repair done I called my Ford Service Advisor and explained the situation and asked him to investigate as to how this could happen. My advisor said he had never heard of this before and it was not covered by any warranty.

When I arrived back in Wichita I scheduled an appointment with Ford and it cost me $500+ to get my vehicle repaired. I was not happy, but it had to be fixed.

I have had the window/windshield trim coming off in sections. A local Ford dealer estimated it would cost at least $600 to replace/repair. This definitely should be a recall.
