I started hearing a knocking in the front end and the steering was very loose, when I turned right at first and on occasion to the left mechanic said if I had gone much further it would have broken all the way and I would have lost all control of the SUV.

My car was completely totaled in an accident on 10/21/19. I received very serious multiple brain bleeds, facial lac, facial & head fx's & a severe tbi. My mom rec a concussion, facial lac concussion & a fx clavicle. We stopped at the stop sign & moved to the center between the 4 lanes & stopped again & we were hit by a large roll on roll off rock carrying dump truck in the middle of the lanes. The car was completely totaled & I was in a coma & airlifted to a trauma ctr approx 40 mins away, but I was in resp arrest & not expected to live. It is unknown exactly what caused the unsafe conditions, however I never cross straight across the traffic & we had been on a very very bumpy intersection the fri before the acc on Monday & the car had not been driven since that 5 hr trip of extremely bumpy rough road conditions on interstate 95 coming through part of nc, all of SC & part of ga.

At slow speeds 20 mph and less there is significant noise when driving over bumps or transitions. At very slow speeds less than 5 mph and turning steering wheel the steering will get stuck or hesitate and make a clunking or popping sound. Seems to be stabilizer bar related. Its progressively getting worse. I also have an engine surging issue at slower speeds of 30 mph or less.

After rear toe link recall was completed, vehicle rear end swayed while braking on rough roads. This was getting worse as was starting to happen without breaking. Took vehicle to a different dealer (wilson Ford saginaw, mi) than the one who did the recall work (lafontaine of birch run). Mechanic found that two bolts (one LH and one rh) were not tightened from original recall work.

The contact owns a 2016 Ford Explorer. The contact received a recall notice for NHTSA campaign number: 19V435000 (suspension) regarding the toe link fracturing. The contact called oxmoor Ford Lincoln (100 oxmoor ln, louisville, ky 40222, (502) 426-2500) and an appointment was scheduled to have the recall serviced. Prior to the appointment, while driving 55 mph over an overpass, the contact lost control of the vehicle due to the defective toe link fracture. The contact exited the highway and drove home at a low speed. The contact spoke with the dealer and was informed that they could not inspect the vehicle until his appointment date. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact requested a loaner vehicle. The manufacturer refused the request for a loaner vehicle and explained the recall policy. As I was driving my 2016 Ford Explorer on the highway on 08/01/2019 I experienced the vehicle start to stutter just before I was going on to the on ramp merging on the highway and after I was on the high way the vehicle started smoking from under the hood and would no longer accelerate and I could smell oil burning and pulled over and shut the car off looked under the car and saw the pile of oil underneath but the vehicle did not have the any check engine light or warnings once we towed the vehicle home I looked under the car and saw that the transmission casing was cracked pretty much in half I could actually see the gears inside the casing of the transmission I also rememberd in the past year or so the vehicle would shift very hard after braking and then getting back on the gas it happened every once in a while.

The contact owns a 2016 Ford Explorer. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 19V435000 (suspension). The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time as the recall notice was received over a year ago. Woody anderson Ford (2500 jordan ln nw, huntsville, al 35816, (877) 315-0514) was contacted and confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall remedy. While driving 60 mph, the contact heard an abnormal noise coming from the rear suspension. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the barrier struts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then taken to South bay Ford (5100 w rosecrans ave, hawthorne, ca 90250, (888) 890-2965) where it was confirmed that the barrier struts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in a recall. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

I was driving back to work from my break when I was about to park my car the power steering got locked suddenly. Thanks to god I was not in full motion otherwise I would have been messed up every ways. This car is just driving me crazy everyday I notice some kind a stupid noise. I bought this vehicle not too long ago. The dealer knowingly gave me faulty car right next day I took it back to fix the carbonmonoaxide problem and now the steering locked on me.

Vehicle is experiencing popping noises when turning the steering wheel left or right also happens while braking the popping is significant enough to feel in the steering wheel as well as in the floor boards on both front passenger and driver. The steering wheel has exhibited extreme vibration enough to make the outside driver review mirror shake. The steering wheel has also been stuck in the left turning position twice while trying to straighten wheels back out.

Takata recall. Whenever I maneuver slowly when I park horizontally, I can hear crackling sound and this was fixed twice by Ford dealer. Recently, the dashboard had warning that steering is not working. The steering became stiff right away and stiffer that have to drive slowly and turn on my hazard light the next 3 miles to reach home. I could hardly turn the wheel that have to avoid roads where I have to turn. It was fixed by same dealer and got my vehicle after a week. The mileage is 18,000 and now I'm not confident to take my 3 year old car on long distance drive. The suspension was fixed as well mid 2018 for the car is running like a 20 year old truck on the road.

In the recent past both rear tie rods have broken, one at a time while being driven on dirt roads at less than 18 mph. The vehicle has less than 27,000 miles on it. When this happens the wheel turns from straight to a 45 degree angle. This so far has occurred when being driven slowly. The vehicle was purchased from don reid Ford on the state of Florida contract for light trucks - 4WD. The vehicle is driven to and from work as well as on the 196 miles of dirt roads within the St. Johns improvement district. This vehicle design was changed in 2016 to a Taurus chassis with what I believe to be all wheel drive. The vehicle has tie rods and cv axles in the front and rear. It does not appear to be suitable for part time off road use. I am concerned that while I am traveling at highway speeds to work that one of these rear tie rods will break and cause a catastrophic accident resulting in death or injury to myself.

2016 for Explorer Sport - purchased brand new. Vehicle has 15K miles now and I am hearing a loud popping / creaking sound that occurs when turning the steering wheel either left or right when the car is in motion. It's most noticeable at a slower rate of speed when turning into a parking space or turning from a complete stop. Today, on 3 separate occasions, when turning left the steering locked up and I had to jerk the steering wheel to the right in order to get the vehicle to go straight again. Each time this has happened there is another loud pop sound that can be heard. This is a major complaint across the board with 2014 - 2016 Explorer along with the wheel bearing, suspension and loss of power complaints.
