2015 Explorer Sport. I had the first symptom in Dec 2018, when driving on interstate, sunroof opened on its own and would not close. The problem was sunroof drains being clogged? The dealer replaced sunroof motor but told me shade motor was not compatible, so $900 down the drain. Fast forward Oct. 2019, water leaking from overhead console into interior, the sunroof again will not open, and the dealer says motors have 2 year warranty. This is a design flaw as the vehicle is not parked where any debris can enter closed sunroof. They say the drains need to be cleaned out every month?? I find this unacceptable for a $35k vehicle. I own many classic Fords and the Explorer has the most issues. I Love the Explorer but its the little things that are really pissing me off. This needs a Tech Bulletin if not a recall.

I been a Ford owner for a number of years and in my last 2 Explorers I experienced similar issues with no resolve. Hoping this new 2015 Limited Explorer would resolve the issue. Today we are experiencing a rainy day and water is leaking into my car from all directions and my entire console is soaked hoping my electronics do not get damaged.

I drove the car immediately over to the dealer and they are telling me that it's the sunroof and its should be a recall as there were 2 newer Explorers there for similar issues. How is it that Ford has not issued a formal Recall for this issue as the service manager mentioned at FORD????

I think after this experience I will be looking for a new home with another vendor as FORD is not helping at all for these annoying issues that they should be able to resolve.
