At around 100,000 miles drivers seat belt would not lock or unlock...started sticking around 95,000 miles. Never had to replace a seatbelt before especially in a car that was only three years old. Also, at around the same time the drivers side windshield pillar broke off and flew off while driving on the highway at around 65 mph. The passenger side flew off at 115,000 miles while driving on the highway as well. Neither is covered by warranty and owner will have to come out of pocket to cover the damages ($500+). how can Ford put on such cheap finishes to the car? noise level in the cab is affected due to wind noise. Passenger pillarpopped loose and would not pop back in. Appeared that a clip had broken.
My vehicle exhibited a bubbling or blistering under the paint on aluminum body parts (hood). It was stated on Ford's technical service bulletins tsb 04-25-1, tsb # 06-25-15, and the latest tsb 16-0028 that this was due to iron contamination of the aluminum panel. Ford's warranty shows to be 5yr/unlimited mileage. For not wanting to warranty corrosion issue. We noticed the issue on thanksgiving 11/22/18, but from the looks of things, it seems as though the corroding has been going on for some time.
Car hood paint is bubbling and painting. There have been no accidents and the car only has 33,000 miles on it. Ford will not cover it under the mfgr warranty since the in service date is over 3 years.
I discovered 5 inches of standing water in the interior of the vehicle where the spare tire is stored. There is no clear source of the leak on my inspection but the carpets are soaked and there is a smell of mold and mildew in the interior. The vehicle has not been in a flood zone or driven through standing water.

I have a 2015 Ford Explorer, my driver side windshield pillar/trim flew off while on the expressway. I called the dealership that stated they would have to determine if this was a defect. I found this forum that has a few complaints about the same problem but yet a recall has not been issued. At the dealership the service man stated they would have to replace both sides? odd, not exactly they are aware that at some point the other side is bound to fly off also. I was told although I have warranty up to 100,000 mi, this is not covered. So next step was to contact Ford who then stated that they and NHTSA do rigorous safety testing and have not come to a conclusion that this is an issue. I was on the expressway this trim flying off my vehicle could of hit a motorcyclist or another windshield and caused damage. Not to mention, it hit my windshield before flying off that scared me. So apparently there are not enough reports. And I was told by a Ford cs rep that forums on the internet are not considered unless it is a Ford forum.
The SUV is only 3 years old we bought it new from the lot then. I noticed today the hood is bubbling up and the paint is chipping off. This drivers door is cracking at the seem. Very poor quality from Ford.
Passenger front window side panel has lifted from the bottom. I've taken it to the dealer and they say it is not a manufacturer defect" they refuse to fix it for free??" less than two years old when it came apart.
The hood on our 2015's paint is peeling off. We are told the same hood is on the 2016 Explorer and there is a recall on the paint...we have bumper to bumper warranty. How do we get this repainted.
Wife was driving car on highway. Driver side window molding blew off while going 60 mph on highway. Had to swerve to miss it. This is the second time this has happened. It happened last week to passenger side.
I started with headaches, and always nassau, always. Tired, when I push on the accelerator I smelled fumes coming out of my A/C..I was driving wide awake on 95 North, processing to go home.I was in orangeburg S.C.I had been talking through my radio connected bluetooth, I had a little over a hour to go.a deer.my airbags on the driver side deployed but not the passengers.and they did not stay up to long, a godly smell was coming from my car, .everything looked hazy, I got out of my car, called 911, I did not go to hospitol til next day, all I did was sleep waiting in the waiting room to be seen.I had X rays all kinds of tests done.I was hurting pretty bad.I still get headaches til this day.my lungs hurt too.I'm sure I have been positioned by carbon monoxide..everytime I drive my car, I would get a headache nassau and very very sleepy tired.my memory was not good then eiether, I still forget things til this day..
After even a moderate rainfall, the vehicle leaks in the front passenger footwell and from the map light. The leaking primarily occurs when the vehicle is parked in our drivers. 5 repair attempts over the course of several months, including a full replacement of the sunroof, have not found or resolved the problem. The vehicle now smells of mold.
August 24, 2015 I was driving to a 7:00 pm exercise class.I was talking to my mother via bluetooth when I suddenly blacked out and drove across the service road and all 4 lanes both North and South of 287. I wake to emergency responders pulling me from the car and putting me into a ambulance, my mother could hear all of this. I was taken to hospital and had multiple tests run but nothing was found. After I was discharged I had several more tests run and again nothing was found. $18,000 damage to car, medical bills, missed work and I had to retest to keep my drivers license but I never could find a cause. Spring 2017 a friend sent me a article about Ford Explorer leaking carbon monoxide into the cabins. This made complete sense. I purchased a detector and have had it to go off twice. I am reporting this because Ford needs to address this issue. They have said this only happens in modified police vehicles but I can tell you by my experience that is not true.
Since purchased brand new in 2015, we noticed when accelerating that there was an exhaust smell inside the cab with the windows closed. We also noticed on long trips we would get headaches and feel sleepy/weak. Called the dealer and complained about exhaust odor, and was told it would be 600-700 dollars to reseal the cab and do some other repairs. I feel this is not fair and this is a defect the vehicle had since new.
During the use of the ventilation system the cabin of the vehicle will fill with exhaust odor while sitting still or during movement down all roads. This smell grows the more the vehicle speeds up. The vehicle has 30K miles. This vehicle is a quick response vehicle for an emergency services organization.
The frame around the front window flies off. The right side (about 2 foot piece) flew off when driving down the interstate about 2 months ago. The left side flew off last week while again driving down the interstate. This cost several hundred dollars each to replace and is a safety hazard. In looking online there have been multiple complaints.
