On 5/15/2024 I pulled my Ford Explorer into a convenience store to pick up a few items. When I came back out to my car, it started normally but I couldn't turn the steering wheel. I'm 81 years old and in poor health (cancer) so I had an extremely difficult time driving the car to my mechanic (located 2 miles away). I was able to manipulate the car into his garage and shut off the engine. I was shaking like a leaf in a hurricane. When he came out, the car started normally and the power steering was fine. I left the car overnight and he was not able to detect any problem since the power steering is now functioning normally. Now I'm really worried. What happens next time the power steering decides to turn off while I'm driving 60 or 70 mph in traffic?
I rate this problem as extremely dangerous and serious enough to justify an immediate recall.
