I recieved a letter stating that my vehicle was in recall for the rear toe link suspension. The description of this recall is happening to my vehicle but it's not the rear it's the front that's describing all the symptoms. What are my options?
I mother of 3 (15, 13 & 11) & wife got into a major car accident on November 17th, 2020 at about 8:10am driving South on the whitestone expressway South a highly trafficked highway with 4 driving lanes. Police report no. 2020-109-2709. I explained to all instances including police, paramedics, tow company, car insurance, Ford auto dealer, repairing shop, etc. That my car simply failed me. I suddenly lost 100% control of the direction of the car and I was forced into invading all the lanes to my left as I was driving on the far-right side. I am an experienced driver for over 30 years I was totally aware and focused on regaining control of the vehicle, but it was simply not possible, the car spun out and I got eventually hit on the back really strong. The Ford Motor Company has issued several recalls related to the mechanical failure of the rear toe links that increase the risk of a crash. This repair was performed to my car an Explorer by the stamford Ford Lincoln sfl on August 11th, 2020 but the most recent recall I found out just yesterday Nov 23rd that was issued on October 30th, 2020 (no communication was sent to me by either the Agency or the Ford Motor Corporation). It is my civil duty to communicate this to the community to avoid this from happening to others, anyone that owns a Ford Explorer 2013-2017 could die at any time for this ongoing unresolved issue by Ford. Every family deserves to drive a safe car. Presently, I am running the risk that my car gets totaled by the conclusions of the stamford body repair shop that works along with the sfl in which case I simply might never get the explanations that I deserve for the mechanical failure and I will be also losing thousands of dollars in the need to get a safe car to drive for my family. Requesting kindly your help to investigate this further. Dmv ct mentioned I should seek your help on the matter.
I was on the street turning left and I left my vehicle slow the speed and the whee got really hard. I was about to be in a car accident. I was not able to drive it home anymore. The vehicle will not go anymore.
While stationary or at slow speeds, when turning the steering wheel near the max, the right front strut mount gives a clanging sound. This is due to a loose strut mount that could be dangerous. This occurs on city roads where speeds are low enough to along near maximum turning radius.
Memorandum for Ford corporation, claim division from: [xxx], owner of 2013 Ford Explorer XLT, VIN#[xxx]. re: Punitive damages due a defective product. Recall# 19S17 MA'am, sir, I own a 2013 Ford Explorer, VIN#[xxx]. in December 2015, I moved to germany in under us army orders and exported my SUV to our military installation in vilseck, germany. I have always had issues with the car, experiencing steering problems and twice lost control, which resulted in two accidents in March, 2016 and November, 2017. Over my deployment to germany, I sought help from local Ford sites in bavaria, spent considerable amounts to fix the issue thinking the brakes are the issues and in times changing tires, but in vain. When, I attempted to import the vehicle back to the homeland upon my recent permanent change of station (pcs) back to hurlburt field, fl, I found out that the SUV was subject to a recall for a defect in the rear toe link, which increases the risk of crash (Ford recall# 19S17 and nthsa recall# 19V435). I obtained a waiver to import the car and called world Ford pensacola as soon as my car landed in the us on January 27, 2020 to schedule a fix. They fixed the issue on January 29, 2020. It is worth mentioning that Ford has my updated army post office (apo) address but had never notified me of this important recall (I have mail from Ford to my apo address but not for the recall). For the foregoing reasons, I decided to file a claim with Ford corporation for all of the expenses incurred due to the mishap, including my accident in 2016 and 2017. I contacted your hq, but in vain. He ignored my phone calls and my emails. Therefore, I am reaching out to you in writing. I am asking, at this point, only for repair expenses and not asking for medical bills stemming from the accidents ($ $1732.90 and $5000.04 information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
I have received carbon monoxide poisoning from driving my 2013 Ford Explorer. I also have had the front end looked at and repaired had to pay most of the costs (extended warranty paid for some) for the front end popping sounds while turning. The sound is still there and on both sides now. So money wasted towards Ford!! the vehicle isnt drivable at this point and that leaves me without a vehicle.
On my Explorer the recall 19V-435 (Ford number 19S17) was executed. After 3 month and approx. 2500mi the left new toe link broke. The car was running with 35mph to an intersection and I started moderate braking in front.of a traffic light. During braking the left new toe link broke.
Vehicle had toe link replaced in accordance with recall 19V-435 on 8-19-19. On 9-10-19, the replacement toe link failed while driving at 45mph. The dealership reports the toe link failed at the weld.

Front sway bar links have been knocking over 1 year ago. At the time my car was only 5 years old. At first the Ford dealership they thought it was valve body in the suspension the first time they checked. Explorer was jerking when I slowed down to a stop. The second time I took it in they said it was the throttle body. They replaced that because I complained that I have had so many problems with a 5 to 6 year old car. Only has 77,000 miles on it.

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Explorer. While driving various speeds, the steering wheel suddenly became very difficult to turn in either direction. The failure occurred on multiple occasions and the fuse was reinserted in order to repair the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Also, while driving, the passenger side of the vehicle wobbled and vibrated. The vehicle was taken to bill flick Ford (737 North freeway service rd, huntsville, tx) where it was diagnosed that the suspension was faulty. The vehicle was repaired. Furthermore, while operating the vehicle, the door ajar warning message erroneously displayed, the interior dome light remained illuminated, and the doors would not lock. The cause of the failures was not determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 800.
The vehicle felt as if the alignment was bad. It was very difficult to steer. Turning was particular;Y difficult. It sounds very similar to exactly what the recall on the toe links stated. The dealership said the knuckles were bad and needed replaced and that it happens to every 2013 Ford Explorer for some reason.
In 2013 the dealer refuse to work on the issue while it was under warranty. Either the wheel hub and bearings are out or the struts are defective.the sound happens in motion and stationary if moving the steering wheel to the left and right. I have called and complained and was told that there was recalls for this make and model but not with my VIN number. Was told that a base model isn't that important. Called again to report it to Ford 2/4/2019 and was told that there are issues with your make and model and there wasn't any thing they could do until NHTSA steps in and direct me to this website.
Driving on nys thruway at 70 mph. Roadway dry, weather is clear, dry and sunny. Suddenly and without any warning signs the vehicle violently lurched to the left, right, sideways, etc. The car was unable to be steered and was completely out of the driver's control and not responding to any input. This repeated itself until the car scrubbed speed and ended up on the road shoulder. Luckily there were no other vehicles on our side or following closely behind when the wild ride occurred. We are also fortunate that the car didn't roll over during the sideways movements- it came close to it. At this point the car's steering wobble was so severe that it was impossible to operate. The car was towed to our local Ford dealer and upon examination it was determined that the rear suspension toe link had snapped causing the knuckle and wheel bearing to shift which then caused the incident. The Ford people could offer no explanation as to the cause of this catastrophic failure.this exact failure is addressed in NHTSA campaign #16V245 and was subject to Ford recall #16S18 in April 2016. The recall applied to 2014 Explorer- mine is a 2013. This car has been repaired at my expense ($1600) but I will not drive it again. There exist a potentially fatal flaw with these vehicles and we consider ourselves fortunate to escape with no injury or worse. In researching I found a youtube video of "out of control SUV on interstate" (Ford Explorer)which accurately portrays what happened to us! please contact me if you need any further information regarding this incident.
