Check engine light on,. 2 months out of 3 year warranty, at dealer now waiting for repair, they are 5 days before they can look at it. Miss fires and shakes no power. Hoping something like a sensor. Will update once repaired. Did not feel comfortable driving.
Update from Jun 18, 2016: Dealer looked at it, will be another week before they can repair. Issue appears to be in timing chain area, so should be covered under 5 year,. Escalated to get a loaner car. Probably out for 2 more weeks,. It's a big job 10-12 hrs to tear it down,. I am thinking extended warranty may be worth it.
Update from Jun 27, 2016: Back from dealership, Primary timing chain stretched and phasers will not compensate. Removed and replaced primary timing chains, tensioners, and get solenoids. Running good for 4 days now, big trip planned for later this week. All under power warranty.
Could not believe the power train main belt broke on a 2013. Going down the highway and all power ceased, no steering, lights, intrument panel etc. Panic and thank goodness I was in the right lane exiting the expressway. Had to have it towed.
This is my third Explorer and never had a problem with the first two. 2005, 2008 both were work horses. Hope I don't have a lemon with this 2013.
Highly disappointed in this product. I am a die hard Ford person but this car is unsafe and there is no rhyme or reason to loss of power. It never dies, just no acceleration and leaves you in awkward situations and risk of a wreck. This has happened to me three times. They changed my fuel pump and got it back from the shop and it happened to me again after driving around town all day.
What am I paying all this money for? If you pay good money for something it should be reliable! Shame on you Ford!
