This is my 4th Explorer and probably my 10-12 Ford. None of my previous Fords had any paint issues. There was a report on a Chicago TV station about an independent study was requested by Ford. Apparently they did not like the answer by the firm that stated that Ford was not preparing their metal for paint adequately and their paint was to thin, so they fired them.
Mine is bubbling around the edge of the hood and the paint is chipping off in the same area. I bought this vehicle in Texas and it has never seen a winter, so it is obvious a factory defect.
Our 2010Black Ford Escape has no issues, not does my 2009 Mercury sable.
I take pride in taking care of my vehicles, so this is really upsetting to me
Now the question is whether Ford will stand by it. I took it to the dealer I bought the Escape from in Michigan and its been a week with out any word from Ford. I'm headed back to Texas and will see if the dealer down there will remove rust and repaint hood under warranty. I plan on putting some undercoating under the hood to try and prevent it from happening again. If it does and Ford doesn't do anything about it, there going to lose a long time Ford supporter.
