Because it was under warrantee, I was told I’d either get a new transmission or a rebuild. I preferred a new, but it wasn’t my choice (so I was told) and I was given a rebuild. Even after bringing it home, it was never quite right. When going from “Park†to “Drive†there was a delay in the transmission. There always seemed to be a stagger in the moving from one gear to another. I mentioned several times to the dealer, but I was always told it was fine.
I bought the 2010 Explorer Limited in May of 2011, new. There was a problem with a harsh downshift between 2 to 1 when decelerating. A computer program from Ford ended that problem, but started a new one. When accelerating with a light foot (normal) there is slight hesitation then a harsh up shift between 2 and 3, then 3 and 4. I waited for another computer update from Ford and was later called. The basic idea behind the computer program was that the transmission (TCM) will learn how the driver drives after it is cleared. I took it back three times and the same condition remains on an every other time basis. Sometimes it shift smooth and other times it hesitated and then (clucks). This happens only between 2-3 and 3-4 shifts. There is only seven thousand miles on this SUV. I have complained to Ford and to the dealer. I feel ignored.
