Explorer XLT 4.0L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 88,000 miles

A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

I WAS DRIVING DOWN INTERSTATE 94 ON MY WAY TO WORK IN THE DARK EARLY IN THE MORNING WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE EXPLORER DIED. I MEAN JUST SHUT DOWN ELECTRICAL, ENGINE. NO SPUTTER, NO HESITATION IT JUST DIED. THERE I WAS COASTING DOWN THE INTERSTATE IN THE DARK .

SOME WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON BUT EVERYTHING ELSE DIED (HEAD LIGHTS, TAIL LIGHTS, DASH LIGHTS ETC). I AM WORRIED ABOUT BEING HIT FROM BEHIND BECAUSE LIKE I SAID BEFORE IT WAS DARK WITH NO LIGHTS ON MY EXPLORER.. LUCKLY I WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE INTERSTATE. I PUT IT IN PARK, CAUGHT MY BREATH AND STARTED THE EXPLORER. THE EXPLORER STARTED RIGHT UP LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED. I GOT GOING BACK ON THE INTERSTATE AND PULLED INTO A REST STOP THAT WAS WITHIN A FEW HUNDRED YARDS OF WHERE I WAS PULLED OVER. I DROVE AROUND THE REST STOP PARKING LOT TO SEE IF IT WOULD HAPPEN AGAIN. I DROVE TO A FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING UNLESS THERE IS WARNING LIGHT ON SO THEY COULD GET THE CODE.

I HAVE BEEN DOING SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND OUT I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON THIS HAPPENED TO. WHAT A SCARY FEELING OF A VEHICLE DIEING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD.

Explorer XLT Eddy Bower 4.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 42,000 miles

We had taken this vehicle to the Ford garage many times, like 20. I even had it towed there, my expense. They never found the problem. The car would start, run, then die. I drove it 15 miles one day, my kids to school and it stalled 20 times. I was almost in an accident many times with my children.

I called the Ford company and they didn't seem to think it was their problem. We had bumper to bumper warranty. What good was that??? I got rid of the car at 42,000 miles. I had to eat $6,200 of this car to get another car. what a nightmare!!!!!
