It was early in the monring. I pulled the explorer out of the garage and into the driveway and parked it. I pulled another vehicle out the garage and parked it in the driveway (we had a furnace service company coming and we have a 2 car width driveway).
I went inside to do a few things. It couldn't have been more then 10 minutes when i went outside to drive the explorer to an appointment when nothing. I turned the key and nothing happened. No warning lights, no click like when the battery is dead (which it wasn't). I thought maybe the shifter wasn't in park all the way so i tried moving that and still nothing. I took the other vehicle (luckly my wife had that day off so i could take the other vehicle). I went to my appointment steamed about the explorer not starting. While I was waiting I was doing some research on the explorer and this problem. Couldn't find anything in a short amount of time that I had.
I got home from the appointment ready to call a tow truck when i decided to try to start the explorer one more time. I got in turned the key and it started right up. I didn't do anything different and it just started right up.
I don't know what type of electrical gremlin there is in this explorer but it is a tough one to figure out what caused the vehicle to not start (no lights, no electrical, no click, click, click like when the battery is dead when you try starting a vehicle) then maybe an hour to an hour and a half it starts right up. No warning light on the dash lit up nothing to indicate something was wrong.
I was a ford fan. Most of my vehicles have been fords but i will be switching brands.
