When coming to a stop the transmission kicked as if someone had run into the back of us or the transmission would unexpectedly lunge the SUV forward as it came to a stop. I find out Ford has been aware of this problem for some time with no recall. Not even a letter to customers asking them to take their vehicle in if the transmission is acting up. Selling vehicles knowing full well the transmission has a problem and intentionally hiding this fact from the customer constitutes deception and possible fraud. When I took my Explorer in I was asked to pay $150.00, even with an extended warranty. Under extended warranties dealerships, along with Ford's approval are charging customers for diagnostic testing if no part is replaced. I would like to point out to Ford, if the transmission is kicking and lunging forward something is wrong with an interactive part of the transmission to cause such a problem. In order to fix this problem the dealership has to reprogram and replace the bad part with a new part. It is not a physical part you can see or hold in your hands, however, Ford is replacing a bad software part with a new software part. Customers with extended warranties should not have been charged for the diagnostic testing nor reprogramming of this part. In addition, customers without extended warranties should not have been charged since Ford knew full well there was an existing transmission problem at the time of sale. Not only has Ford deceived their customers but is knowingly stealing money from their pockets.
