I purchased this 2007 Explorer Eddie Bauer on 1/15/14 with 90,000 miles, I was not aware of the problem at first. I of course was quite happy and I needed time to get familiar with all the options. In the coming months I kept close watch on my s.u.v using the Maintenance book for this particular car. I had a transmission flush, complete tune up , battery , tires, ect. all along not realizing that the transmission was given me increasing problems with much jerking, slamming , while shifting into reverse .
It got really bad and my total attention when I was at a stop light with my family in the car and had to back up to allow a tractor trailer to have enough room to make a turn in front of me. When shifting into reverse the Explorer jerked abruptly making myself anxious & frightening my family almost hitting the vehicle behind me. We all were confused and shocked that this happened, the same situation has occurred multiple times since.
I have only have this car just over a year & only put just about 12,000 miles total. I have researched this transmission problem with ford cars and found that it has happened many times I looked to see if any recalls have been issued ? I now no longer have the good feeling of a new purchase and brace to anticipate a costly repair for parts & labor. I am disgusted & frustrated that this obvious ford occurrence is a major defect and could lead to serious danger
Please if you can give me any advice or direction on what I can do I love my Explorer but this problem is returning like a persistent stain on a clean white rug. Remember it is a 2007 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer 4.0 v6 automatic Help !
