The vehicle sounds like bad lifters, the vehicle loses a bit of power when accelerated. This is the second vehicle I have seen with this problem within the past 6 months.

Explorer Eddie Bauer 4.6L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 131,000 miles

Tick, tick sound when started. 3 Head bolts on left exhaust manifold were broken off. When repaired, 8 had broken off. Our mechanic first spent 2 weeks using extra strength liquid bolt losener, but broke others when he finally tried to turn them. Used wire welder to build up weld on top of broken stud and welded a bolt to that to remove.

Now all bolts on both sides of this v8 have been replaced. I guess Ford cannot find proper bolts for this engine,as they are a little outfit and have no market heft.

fords suck, this seems to be a real problem with these motors, the manifold actually warped, cheap metal i guess, now at 79800 the other one is leaking.
