After contacting 4 retailers I was told it would be spring before the tires could be replaced. The waiting list is over 247 customers. I have been told that I can purchase the tires myself and then get reimbursed in 6 to 8 weeks. This will probably take much longer and I will carry the interest on cedit for at leased 3 to 4 months. Also what kind of replacement can you get for $100 including mounting and balancing. Each company involved is blaming the other for the problem. What this amounts to is that the end user is getting the shaft. I believe Firestone should be held accountable. I would never purchase one of their products. Maybe their future will prove to be as short lived as their customers rolling down our highways.( dot number: Vd tire size: 235 )

As I have a vehicle equipped with Firestone Wilderness AT tires I am concerned that I might encounter a problem int he future. I understand that Firestone is planning on announcing a "limited" recall to owners of the tires located in southern areas. My present driving habits are mainly travelling on the highway at speeds between 55 - 65 mph for extended periods of time. This along with what I consider a lower tire pressure stated by the manufacturer of 26 lbs, I beleive this can cause the tires to have more stress on the sidewalls while travelling and with highway speeds could possibly cause the heating& buldging of the tires causing more stress on the sidewalls. Presently my vehicle has only 7750 miles on the odemeter, I hope the NHTSA persues Firestone in the recalling of all Wilderness AT tires in all regions of the country not just the "southern" parts.( dot number: )
