August 2007 I received a letter from Ford Motor Co. Notifying me of a defect in the speed control deactivation switch in my 2000 Ford Explorer. September 2007 I had the nearby dealer disconnect the switch per notice. As of today, April 16, 2008, the speed control has not been repaired in a "reasonable time". each time we call the dealer, we get the same answer "the part has not been received yet". I've driven 7 months without use of the speed control in my vehicle. I would really like to know when Ford intends to get this part out to their dealers so that this problem can be fixed properly. This is ridiculous having to wait this long for a part that Ford has known about for a while.

The contact owns a 2000 Ford Explorer. For the past two months, the contact has experienced electrical failure with his vehicle. The instrument panel and headlights do not illuminate, the windshield wipers work intermittently, and the battery is always low. The vehicle was taken to the auto garage, but they were unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on April 8, 2008 and they stated that the headlight and globe wiring were the cause of the failures. The cost of the repair is $800. According to the manufacturer, the dealer informed them that the failure was not under the hood; therefore, they were not responsible. The contact believes that his vehicle is included in NHTSA campaign id number 00V072000 (electrical system:fuses and circuit breakers) and he did not receive a recall notice. The VIN, engine size, and number of cylinders were unknown. The current and failure mileages were 100,000. Updated 05/19/08 updated 05/19/08.

Recall notice from Ford on my cruise control 8 months ago. I got a notice in September of 2007 telling me to get it back to the dealer for a repair. It is now April of 2008 and I just got off the phone with both the local dealer halderman Ford of allentown, pa and the toll free number of Ford for recalls. Both locations tell me that they have no idea of the availability of repair parts. Almost 8 months later"??" and still no parts to repair this. And to think that I should need another vehicle, I will be hard pressed to consider Ford after being treated this way.

I received notification from Ford on a recall for the speed control deactivation switch (scds) in August of 2007. I brought the vehicle to arrington and blount (place of purchase) to address the recall in early November. The switch was removed from the vehicle, the wire to the switch was tied to fixture and I was told to call the dealer to find out when the part will be available for the recall... it has been almost 5 months and several calls to 770-963-1831, always speaking to the service dept and still no part... the reason for this note is last week I called on Monday 3/17/08 and I was told some parts have arrived and I should get there on Tuesday morning 3/18/08 - which I did...only to find out still no available part... karim abdullah.

In January 2008 I took my 2000 Ford Explorer to courtesy Ford, in altoona, pa to have the recall service performed. They did not have the necessary parts, so they ordered them and disconnected my cruise control to make the car safe to drive. On February 26, I called and was told my part had arrived. When I took it in, they discovered that only one of two required parts had arrived, and they could not repair my cruise control. I left on a business trip the following day. I was to return on March 7, 2008 and my girlfriend and three daughters were driving to the airport to pick me up. About 40 or 50 miles into the trip she noticed the car was losing power because it was not pulling up a hill well and the engine began running roughly. She pulled over to the side of the road. At this point, the Explorer had a little bit of smoke coming from under the hood. She turned the car off and waited a moment, then saw the smoke getting worse. She and my daughters got out of the car and she called 911 for help. Other drivers stopped to assist, but while she was on the phone the Explorer broke into flames, starting from under the driver's side. The Explorer and my belongings were destroyed, but luckily everyone got out safely. My daughters said that they could see flaming liquid (melted plastic or brake fluid) dripping onto the ground under the car while it was burning.

Speed control dis-engaged by pacific Ford, long beach ca, on 09/26/07, due to Ford recall letter Aug 2007. To date (03/03/08), the 05S28 recall has not been replaced. According to the dealership Ford has not filled the replace parts. I have waited an excess of 7 months to have this part replaced. This is unacceptable. Ford needs be better prepared and timely action must occur.

This is in regard to a recall # 05S28 by Ford Motor Co. - speed control deactivation switch, risk of underhood fire (2000 Ford Explorer XLT ). on Sep.19,2007 the dealer disconnected the switch and informed me that the new harness will be installed soon, when parts arrive. It's been over four months, the repair has not been completed and now the dealer is telling me that maybe in June 2008. My complaint is that more than reasonable period of time has passed for a simple repair like this. Ford is not following through with the completion with the recall. The lack of speed control is very inconvenient for me during my frequent freeway trips. The dealer offered me reconnecting the switch if I signed the waiver of liability. I?M not going to sign such a waiver but I will reconnect the faulty switch and in case of fire I will take a legal action against Ford for damages. I'm also sending a similar letter to the dealership and Ford customer service.
