Door handle on the passenger side broke and about 2 months later the one on the drivers side broke. Both were weak before they broke. The PLASTIC (of course) behind the handle just snapped. The parts are around 30+ dollars to get and Ford motor company will gladly fix it for you if you pay them around 280.00 a door and that is matching the paint. Not only is it a pain to go in from the back door and try to reach the front door handles to open, but in the event of an accident and you are unconscious and someone needed to get you out in a hurry due to fire etc. you might as well just kiss your arss goodbye. I won't let my children ride in this vehicle and cannot afford to pay that kind of money to replace. Shortly after I bought it no one wanted it back and a trade in was out of the question because of the faulty transmission to boot, the driver side door lock stopped working as well as the window. It went straight from a nice 4x4 to a negative equity vehicle within two years of my purchase. Anyone debating a class action suit, count me in. I am tired of 2000.00 dollar rebates towards a new right of the show room model. More money in their pocket and cant afford the payment. I would be happy if they just stepped up and traded me for a used vehicle that was safe to drive. Will be checking into seeing what it takes to file a class action suit.

Within a few months of each other 3 of the 4 door handles broke leaving it impossible to open each door from inside or outside! When the 3rd one (my driver door) broke I had to get it fixed. Cost was $200 but the repair was only quoted so low because repairman was able to get the door open. The other doors cannot be opened in any way. Seems Ford might of at least answered my request for assistance as it is quite a safety issue. Usually been proud of the many Ford trucks I've owned, don't complain much, but this makes me angry & stressed everytime I allow a passenger climb over my seat to join the ride!

Noticed Ford corrected the problem in the next year. But what about me and my passengers? Back to driving the 1983?
