Researched on internet and found that this a quite a problem. Spoke with a number of mechanics that don't fix that or never heard of that happening. The explorer is currently at the shop to be looked at. I am not mechanically inclined single mom with two kids - not having a safe vehicle to drive is an issue and wasn't expecting the brake pedal to fall off or even be able to just replace bracket or screws - so if it's a big expense - I am down a vehicle. With the number of complaints I saw doing just a first glance internet - this should be a recall.
