PE00 020 ; consumer had vehicle parked and examined tires, and all four tires were showing signs of cracking and stress marks. Tires were from the #dot vnhl1pyo57. There were no injuries reported. Four tires cracked at perimeter near outside edge of the tread. The tires were manufactured in toronto, Canada.
I took it to Ford on 8/15 and they said it was not part of recall (not from Decatur). A couple weeks ago I notice craking around tires. Took it to Ford, they referred me to Firestone. Firestone said "yes, these needed replaced, but don't have any. Will be about two weeks to get replacements" I am not part of recall so I can't get different brand and be reimbursed (which would prefer)( dot number: Not vd tire size: P235/75R15 )
Original equipment on a 1997, Explorer, P235/75R15 size, dot#: vn. Tread on all four tires is starting to separate. The customer purchased four new tires to replace the failed tires.
While driving, right front Firestone Wilderness AT tire P235/75R15 experienced tread separation, causing vehicle to lose control and drive off the road and caused damage to the vehicle.

Prior to tread separation, consumer heard a slapping noise coming from rear, weeks later right rear Firestone Wilderness AT tire P235/75R15 dot W2hl, experienced tread separation, consumer replaced tires with another brand.

My Firestone Wilderness AT tires were not made in the Decatur il that is faulted in the recall from Firestone. My tires were in at the joliete plant in cananda. I had to replace my tires because the tread was begining to separate from the tire. The steering wheel and truck started to shake, upon inspection consumer noticed that the Firestone Wilderness AT tire tread separated form the tire but the tire remained inflated (P23575R15). Nlm

I felt a wobble while driving. Stopped at gas station and found that a chunk of tread was missing from the tire on the outside edge of the tread. It was a patch about 4" in diameter, and left two steel belts exposed. I took tire to Firestone on 8/5/00, where I was told that there was no problem with Wilderness AT tires- just bad press. They tried to charge me $100+ for replacement, as a road hazard incident, and when I complained they reduced the charge. I did not install the new tire, but left my old spare in place, which was also date code W2. That tire had complete tread separation on 8/31/2000 which I have separately reported on another voq. The other tire was also of same date code with exactly same dot number. When I made the other report I mentioned the 8/5/00 incident, and incorrectly reported it to be a vd date code. I just found Firestone receipt which shows the first failure like the second was with dotw2hl1py416 tire. When I contacted Firestone about damage to my car caused by the tire failure, they asked me to ship the defective tire and all the pieces I collected off the street to them. Belt seperation at sidewall has exposed steel cords, tire has more than 8/32 in. Of tread on tire, tire has been determined to be unsafe by dealer but due to the wrong dot number refused to replace under current recall status. The tire blew on interstate I-69 on clear roads, overcast day. The driver rear tire lost its tread which flipped up behind the SUV causing damage to the rear of the vehicle. I began a right hand spin which I got out of and then spun 180 degrees and entered the median backwards travelling approximately 300 yards before coming to a stop. Several witnesses gave statements to the eaton county sheriff's department indicating what occured after the tire blew out. I sustained neck and back injuries.( dot number: ? tire size: P235/75R15 )
PE-00-020; original equipment on a Ford, Explorer, 1997, tire size P235/75R15, dot number began with vn on all four tires. Tires have 37 thousand miles on them. Consumer noticed hairline cracks developing right at the tread line on all four tires. Four tires have been replaced with another brand at customer expense. The customer states that the tires failed due to faulty design land should be recalled.
PE00-020, tire size P235/75R15, dot vnhlipy456, original equipment on Ford, Explorer, 1997. 2 popular tire shops have claimed all 4 tires' tread was separating. Tire there was a line going aroung the tire, underneath tread near sidewall. The customer states that Firestone dealer was unable to replace the failed tire because there were no tires in the store according the dealer.
2 right side Firestone Wilderness AT tires P255/70R16 were experienced tread separation, they were splitting and separating, consuemr replaced tires and is requesting reimbursement.
PE00020, tire tread separation: While driving between 55-60 mph sidewall on the passenger's side tire blewout. Driver was alone and not injured. Tire size P23570R15. Original tire equipment on a 1997, Ford, Explorer. Tire mileage about 27,000. Firestone was contacted about the tire. Firestone took no responsibility in this matter. Please list dot # if possible.
PE00 020; consumer took vehicle for a brake job, and mechanic noticed that tire tread was starting to separate. Also, there were stress marks and cracks inside of the inner sidewall. Firestone wilderness#at, P23575R15, plant code #vn. Consumer stated that he had tire replaced by Goodyear.
