Brakes failed to stop vehicle and there was extended stopping distance. Had taken vehicle to dealership, and was informed by mechanic that rotors needed replacing due to being corroded. Did not have any emergency brakes.
Was driving vehicle and had to jam on brakes when another vehicle cut in front. ABS system locked up. Prior to locking up, had 3 sets of brakes, and 2 sets of rotors replaced. Third time heard grinding noises on right front wheel. Sounded like metal to metal. Driver side rotors were shot due to brakes locking up. At dealership, nothing was found wrong.
When the consumer replaced the left rear brake rotor he noticed that the lining had come loose from the metal of the rear parking brake shoe and it was less than half worn, all four shoe linings were crazed but were not broken.
When brakes are applied at highway speeds the vehicle vibrates. Brake rotors are warped. Owner has had the vehicle tuned. The dealer has been notified.
