Intermittently all my windows stop working. At the same time my 4WD and 4WD Low lights on the instrument panel start flashing 4-6 times, then pause and flash again. The flashing lights may happen several times. After a while, the windows start working again, sometimes while I'm still driving and sometimes after I turn off the car.

After finding out how much ford wanted to fix them I went out exploring. I found this place that sells window motors. They made it sound like it was impossible for a layman to fix it. I asked if the motors were new. They said they were rebuilt. I decided to tackle the problem myself. I found in this site people who had their experiences with this problem. When I took out the window motor and opened it I found that each motor has three neoprene rollers that were cracked or deteriorated. I washed the gear real well and cleaned the motor. To my surprise I found round ball bearings, steel, that I had in by junk parts. I replaced the neoprene rollers with the steel ball bearings and it worked like a champ. The ball bearings have to be about the same size as the neoprene rollers. Now why can't ford people figure this problem instead of replacing the window motor?

my complaint is exactly the same as a couple others i read on this site, the power windows stopped working today and for the last few days, and more each day. also the four wheel drive lights keep flashing. its not the fuse, i am trying to locate one of the many fuse boxes to try replacing a relay switch, i hope that is what the problem is. This is a very big problem as the weather is suppose to be rainy for the next week and i dont have a garage and i couldnt go many places anyway because i cant secure my vehicle without windows that roll up, so basically i cant use my truck unless the weather is dry and i feel safe leaving it unattended with windows down.......@&^$#%%^

I am disappointed that Ford has not been able to tell me the problem. It is an older vehicle and I do not want to spend a lot of money to fix it.

Power windows don't work. Not an every time issue. But it is all of them, either they all work or none do. I think it is electrical or computer. When windows don't work, the 4wd and 4wd low lights blink six times , stop, then do it again 30 or 40 seconds later over and over again. If i turn off the truck they may all work. Started happening four months ago, but has gotten worse. Now sometimes while driving they will stop working. If I turn off ignition they may work, but not guaranteed. Tonight all windows were working, went through a drive through and driver window went halfway down and stopped working, 4wd and 4wd low began blinking again, truck is in driveway have gone out several times to try to restart it, doesn't seem to fix it anymore. This is same issue as Rebecca H from maryland reported
