Consumer Firestone 500 tire exploded. The tire failed prior to recall notification. The consumer received the recall notice September 2006. When the consumer originally notice something wrong with the tire he contacted the dealer. The dealer advised the consumer to contact an authorized Firestone dealer. The Firestone dealer said there nothing was wrong with the tire. The vehicle was then taken to a Goodyear dealer who said that the tire was obviously separating. The consumer had the tires replaced with another brand. Firestone requested that the defective tire be returned to the but the tire dealer had already disposed of them.
While driving 55 mph rear driver side tire tread separated. As a result, material of the tire went under the vehicle and damaged part of the rear wheel.
While traveling on the highway at highway speed, passenger side rear tire ( Firestone radial ATX P235/75R15 ) had full tread separation from tire. Was able to slow and pull off of the side of the highway only to find damage to the right rear of my '95 Ford Explorer. Tread piece had come off the tire and up hitting the lower portion of the fender bending it upward toward the supports for it and then hitting the passenger rear tail light completely breaking it enough to need full replacement. After hitting the light, it came down and hit the passenger rear door window and leaving multiple black tire/rubber marks down the door till it hit the running board on the side.
Consumer has replaced Firestone tires twice for a total of eight tires due to recall 00T005, Firestone has not yet responded back to consumers request for reimbursement, tire size is P235/75R15.

The vehicle experienced a tire tread separation (blowout) whiled driving, the consumer had all four tires replaced with another brand one day before the recall was announced (Dec 31, 1999), the consumer requested reimbursement but was denied because the tires were purchased prior to January 1, 2000 (Firestone ATX). While driving the right front tire tread separated from the tire, the consumer requested reimbursement for all tires replaced but was denied reimbursement because the replacement tires were purchased prior to the cut off date (Firestone radial ATX, P235/75R15 dot#W2hl-1pm-105). Nlm
The front passenger side tire tread separated while driving, on another occasion the the rear drivers side tire blew out causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle and ended up in a grassy median, in July of 2000 prior to the recall 00T005, consumer had to replace two more tires due to bad belts, consumer is requesting reimbursement for faulty tires (Firestone wilderness ATX, P235/75R15). The consumer is having difficultly getting reimbursement for faulty Firestone tires because she does not have the serial numbers of the tire because they were disposed of by the tire dealer, the tires had early signs of tread separation which caused noise while driving (Firestone ATX). Nlm
The owner is experiencing difficulty with Firestone to replace his four defective Firestone tires, prior to this recall the owner experienced a blowout. Nlm
Prior to recall 00T-005 and 00V-402 the vehilce experienced sudden loss of control, the consumer believes the sway bar links malfunctioned causing the loss of control and that the tire also blewout during this accident, the consumer suffered a busted and swollen lip and body aches (Firestone). Nlm
While driving the tread of the tire began separating from both the front and rear tires, the consumer replaced all four tires prior to recall 005-00T and request reimbursement (Firestone). Nlm
While driving at approximately 55 mph in Ford, Explorer, 1995 right rear Firestone tire, size: P255/70R16, dot: Vdcu1px019 experienced tread separation. *note: Vehicle was involved in a crash due to tread separation. Vehicle classified as a total loss, and consumer's wife suffered nose/head injuries. Firestone Wilderness AT tires.
The tires began to separated which caused severe vibration while driving, the consumer replaced all four tires and request reimbursement (Firestone). Nlm
Consumer experienced a flat, and when vehicle was take in, was advised by mechanic that the flat was due to tread separation, consumer has replaced all 4 Firestone at(P255/70R16) tires.
The tread on the right front tire separated and the vehicle went off the road and rolled 4 or 5 times. I was injured with bruses, scratches, and glass cuts in my face. I have contacted norma davis at Firestone (800-543-7522),but she stated that I needed the tire for her to help. I have since had the vehicle repocessed, because my insurance(nationwide insurance co.)chose to repair the vehicle for $10000. After months of taking the vehicle back to the repair shop, I was told that nationwide would no longer be responsible for repairs caused by my accident. While driving about 75 mph left rear tire had tread separation. Vehicle was wandering around the road. Firestone, Wilderness AT, P235/75R15, dot hyhl1P458. Failure caused damage to the aluminum wheel.
