The contact owns a 2017 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled. The wheels then seized, causing the vehicle to jerk. Additionally, the speedometer was inoperable while driving. The "Blind Spot System Fault" and "See Manual - Transmission" messages were displayed and the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was able to be restarted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the molded leadframe needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The contact was informed that the failure was related to Customer Satisfaction Program: 19N01 (Transmission Molded Leadframe Extended Coverage); however, the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

Was traveling 75 mph on a busy highway and lost power, the message center lit up yellow with a wrench in the middle, vehicle went to idle/coast, had no power to move thru lanes as cars were buzzing by me. very scary somehow got to the side of road safely but close calls many times. had it taken to Ford dealer - pulled the code P2112 THROTTLE CONTROL SYSTEM STUCK CLOSED/THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL SYSTEM CLOSED. I would like to join class action lawsuit that is open for this problem since Ford will not stand behind this issue. i spent $600 to replace the defective THROTTLE BODY component with a new one. But the reality is that this put myself and others in grave danger because the total loss of power. Pulled into a parking spot and put the car in park. The vehicle started to roll backwards while in park. Had to hit the brakes to stop the car. I checked and the car was securely in park. Had to put the car back in drive and pull forward to pull back fully into the parking spot and apply the emergency brake.

Driving through a mile-long tunnel on an interstate highway (speed limit 55 mph), the vehicle ceased to respond to the gas pedal and would not accelerate or maintain speed. Attempted to shift gears but that produced no change - it was as if the transmission was stuck in neutral, but pushing the gas pedal did not increase the rpm. As we exited the tunnel at approximately 30 mph, the driver attempted to pull over and stop the vehicle, and found that the power assist for the brakes was not working, making stopping difficult - the driver had to push the brakes very hard, multiple times, to stop the car. We did contact 911 dispatch when we thought we were going to likely impede traffic, as the tunnel only had two lanes traveling the same direction. However, no intervention was required as we reached the end of the tunnel and were able to pull over before the call was completed. The vehicle was towed to a dealership and they diagnosed a fuel pump and/or fuel pump module problem, but have ceased to respond to our calls for the past 48 hours, so we have no further information. The check engine light turned on when the car was restarted, but then later turned off, without any repair work having been completed.

Wheels: tires were unidernflated to 25 and no dash warning received. Tires inflated to 32. Within a month severe tire bulge appeared no dash warning. Tires now replaced. Power train: yellow wrench on dash, suv went limp after acceleration, suv had limited forward power to pull over to side of road. Shut engine off, restarted, no yellow wrench, no problem for approximately 20 miles. Identical problem occurred 2 more times about 20 miles after the preceding incident. From Ford forums it appears there is an issue with the throttle body, but when taken to Ford for OBD scan no error was found. This 2017 Ford only has been garage kept, gently driven about 34,000 miles.

At roughly 95,000 miles the bearings in the rear differential went bad on our Expedition EL. We drove it this way for a few months until we could get it properly diagnosed and repaired. It was repaired by Stearns Ford under our extended warranty (aftermarket) several weeks ago, and has been fine since the rebuild.

While driving, the vehicle suddenly went into a "limp mode" where it lost almost all power and a Power Train warning light came on. This happened once on July 14th and then again 5 times on August 2nd, 2002. The car was not drivable after the consecutive incidents so it had to be towed to the dealership. It was determined the Throttle Body had failed and needed to be replaced and because the car was about 2,500 miles beyond the power train warranty terms the repairs cost $790.

Loss of power, no throttle response while driving. Happens when the throttle is advanced at a faster pace like taking off from a traffic light. I get the "See Manual" message and the wrench symbol. Turning off and then turning back on the vehicle clears the fault. Known problem with the Throttle body.....Can you say Recall?

My Expedition was set to 45 mph via cruise control in a work zone, at night, on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. While in the first tunnel in the northbound lane with 2 way traffic, I heard a slight pop, then rough running feeling and completely lost acceleration. The power train wrench warning light came on. Since I was on an incline in the tunnel with no way to pull over and the vehicle was going forward at a snail's pace, I decided to continue as far as I could since it was the safest thing to do for all drivers in the tunnel. The Expedition finally crept out of the tunnel and I was able to pull off to the side to let traffic pass. As soon as we had cell phone service, I had my daughter call the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel to let them know that we were disabled and in need of assistance. I decided to see what would happen if I turned the vehicle off and restarted. Everything reset and I had power, but for how long? The CBBT police agreed that the safest course of action for all vehicles on the road was to tow my vehicle to the other side as it is dangerous to breakdown on the CBBT, especially in one of the tunnels. I was able to drive home after the tow. However, the following day, I tried to drive it again and it did the same: ran rough, wrench sign, no pop that time, total loss of acceleration. Restarted and made it back home. My husband tested it a few days later after re-cleaning battery cable terminals that had been corroded before we replaced the factory battery, and it did the same thing with him on the highway! If we had been trying to get into traffic, turn where we had to cross traffic or any number of other situations and the Expedition lost power like that, the outcome could be deadly. The CBBT would have records since they towed me and wrote the VIN down.

While driving today my vehicle lost power and went into limp mode. the warning wrench came on. This is very dangerous, especially on the freeway. There is no where to get off and the vehicle slows to a stop in the middle of traffic. I turned the vehicle off and restarted it to reset the warning. I did get home, very bad situation in the middle of traffic without any warning.

Car stops accelerating at various speeds on numerous occasions, and cannot get vehicle to propel. No propulsion occurs. Must bring vehicle to complete stop, turn off, and turn back before it will accelerate. Large wrench appears on screen, but disappears after the car is restarted. Safety issue because you cannot maintain speed or accelerate, was almost rear-ended and created potential accident trying to pull vehicle over. Took two visits to the authorized dealer to diagnose the problem as their was no "code" apparent to dealer, and was almost rear ended in between those visits. Vehicle owner quickly googled problem and noticed that N. Carolina Consumers Council had successfully petitioned NHTSA for this issue on other Fords, but that recall appears not to have included these Expeditions. Dealer replaced the throttle body.
