I was driving back from Costco last weekend, going about 50mph, on a busy, large road when my car made a sudden jerk and completely lost power. It slowly rolled to a complete stop with no response from the gas pedal. Fortunately, I was able to move safely over without an accident but it scared the heck out of me! The wrench symbol and the check engine light came on. I shut the car off but decided to try and turn it back on. The car started right up and the lights went out on the dash.
I put the car in drive and tried to drive it home. After approximately 2 miles, the same situation occurred. I repeated the same steps and safety made it home. I was able to get it into the dealership and was told it is the electronic throttle body that needs to be replaced but is not covered under the powertrain warranty (even though the wrench is used as the powertrain symbol???)
Because I am paying out of pocket, I will not be having it repaired through Ford. They are charging more that 2x what a very reputable mechanic is charging.
