The dealer stated that they would take pictures and send them to the manufacturer for repair approval. The contact had to take her vehicle to the dealer four separate times because the pictures would get lost due to staff turnover. The manufacturer finally rejected the contact's claim to have the vehicle repaired for free. The contact called the manufacturer and was provided a case number. The manufacturer referred the contact to NHTSA. The failure mileage was 67,000.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that the rear lift gate failed to open properly. The contact stated that this was a recurring failure. The vehicle was driven to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The technician stated that the latch and module needed to be replaced. The technician replaced the latch only.
