This is the same problem I encountered n my 2006 Explorer. THE ONLY SOLUTION IS TO CHANGE THE SPEEDOMETER FACE. When driving at twilight and the lights come on automatically the speedometer is not readable. There are only two solutions 1. turn auto light off and hope you remember to turn headlights on when it is really dark or 2. Dim the the dashboard lights Otherwise the speedometer is completely unreadable. I bought this vehicle used under warranty and wrongly assumed the problem would not have been carried over by FORD from the 2006 Explorer. Apparently the same speedometer is used in both vehicles (understandably to reduce the number of diff rent parts throughout the FORD line to keep costs down) with the same unacceptable result. This and the problem with the message center if not remedied is enough to turn me off FORD or my
