First had the Green wrench appear a few weeks ago. Researched on line to find out problem and came up with "computer, transmission, drivetrain, etc." with warning to get to Ford dealer so they could see code and diagnose the problem for repair. Local Ford dealer had no appointments for over 2 weeks so continued to drive car, following instructions from posts that you should turn off engine and turn on again and it will work for a few days until it happens again. Have been doing that for 2 weeks--not only a real pain but very unnerving when it happened as I was making a turn into our housing entrance, lost all power, and was unable to complete the turn because of loss of power steering (and bad shoulder). Luckily, I ran into the curb and not another car or worse. Because problem continued to happen every 2-3 days, took the car to our tire and repair company to see if they knew what it was. Had it there twice, wrench never appeared for them, so nothing they could do. Told to bring it in when the light was on so they could figure out what was wrong. Did that today, left car, went to work and researched this site on line to see if anyone else had similar problem with a solution. Found the common problem to be throttle body replacement (that Ford obviously knows). Within 30 minutes of finding this information, the tire and repair company called to say it was a "throttle body" problem and they could replace it (at a cost of over $500). No other choice but to get it done. We will see today if that is the solution (if not, our Ford appointment we waited weeks for is Monday). What a mess.
