This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
1.) we bought the vehicle early in 2009 but never had a reason to use the 4WD. The first time we remember using it, there was a loud clanking sound. 2.) the second time we remember using the 4WD on the vehicle, the driveshaft twisted into failure even though the vehicle was moving at a slow rate of speed. 3.) when we took it to the dealership, they indicated that we abused the vehicle and said they could not perform the warranty work (however, they didn't mind giving us a loaner car) even though we bought the vehicle from them and they know we don't abuse our vehicles. I then called Ford customer service and they in turn called the dealership. The customer service spokesman came back and said they stand behind the dealerships service department and that they considered the manner closed.
