I too have paint blistering on the tail gate of my 08 Expedition. Haven't noticed any hood problems yet. Since it is so widespread Ford should take care of it.

Seems I am not the only Ford owner with this problem and thanks to the internet, Ford can't hide from its responsibility.

taken to dealership 3 years ago when other work was being done to show the bubbling pain, was told to auto body manager that this was a recurring problem with the aluminum used in the hoods and lift gates. was told cost and did not want to pursue at that time ..problem worsened over the years and returned to same ford dealer this past march 2017 and was told that ford was repairing some of this corrosion and that they would send pictures to ford to seek advise,,was told that with 111,000 miles nothing would be done

Our 2008 Expedition has had a problem with paint bubbling on a the hood and rear lift gate. All the paint on the vehicle is original and there are no other parts of the vehicle with this problem.

We've had 2 auto body shops inspect the problem and both have said the aluminum hood and lift gate were not treated properly (they go through a bathing / cleansing process before painting) prior to being painted at the factory. The bubbling is in areas that are not touched by trim on the vehicle. I mention this because Ford often uses this as an excuse for the bubbling problem. The bubbling started being visible before the Expedition was 3 years old. Our Expedition is meticulously maintained and all other exterior parts of the vehicle look great. The bubbling now looks very bad.

The hood and trunk has bubbling and peeling paint. Called Ford customer relations and got the your truck is out of warranty bs. Did research on web and social media and notice various 2008 Expeditions are having the same issue.

Ford knew about the problem of the finish on the expedition. The hood and tail gate both have sever blistering of the paint on the top and underneath. For the price of this vehicle this should not have happened. I feel that Ford Motors should at least pay for part if not all of this repair. This is not my first Ford. But maybe my last. I took my car to two different places and was told almost the same thing about this problem.

Expedition EXL V8

I purchased a 2008 Ford Expedition EXL in 2008 brand new always garaged and waxed. I live on Long Island, Hicksville. Paint started to bubble on rear lift gate and underneath front hood. It is ashamed Ford Motor Company was contacted 9 times by me with every excuse in the book why its happening.

Last week I was in 7 eleven a black 2008 Expedition EXL pulls up right next to me and the owner and I went over the same conditions on his truck he also complaint to Ford no results.

Its really sad how this is my 4th Ford and final one. My entire family who also are Ford fans with other issues on there trucks. Thank you FORD for not caring and in February 2015 me and my wife are in the market for a new truck we will be heading into Lexus dealer ship

NOW I KNOW WHY FORD STOCK IS STUCK AT $15.00 A SHARE

For the amount of technology available throughout the world paint bubbling off of a vehicle shouldn't be an issue for anyone. Especially for the amount of money that we pay for them. Just fix it and move on Ford.

Expedition ES 5.4L V8

Meticulously kept vehicle, bubbles at liftgate handle and near liftgate window started as small single bubble the size of the tip of an ink pen, within 6 months I had multiple bubbles that combined into a mass the size of two quarters wide. Took it to the dealership who acted like this was the first time they had ever heard of this situation, I had the extended warranty with about 3 months left on it, by the time they pushed multiple requests and a pile of goofy paperwork, the warranty expired and they didn't want anything to do with me. Fed up I had another dealership strip and re-paint the gate. I don't really have any confidence this will permanently fix the problem. Other than this problem I have I loved having a Ford product but probably will not re-purchase a Ford vehicle due to the crappy customer service.

A chuck of paint came off leaving a sizable white spot in my black paint. Been ready to go to the car wash but feeling like it would worsen the problem. There are several other spots also on the lift-gate where the paint is starting to bubble on the outside, and the inside.

Ok, this problem is liftgate wide on Ford, Mercury and Lincoln SUV with liftgates. Known by the dealerships and Ford. The aluminum used in these is bad. Water is getting between the metal and the paint and causing bubbling and peeling. If not fixed it will rust and flake. Where I took mine to get fixed, the earliest year that they have had come in was a 2005 Ford Expedition.
