part # 905-104 dorman found at most parts stores disconnect battery, so air bag doesn,t accidentally go off remove air bag there are 2 access covers behind steering wheel with 2 bolts behind them one plug connector has red retaining clip remove steering wheel remove column covers, 3 phillips screws,the one on back left under column harder to find remove turn signal assembly for more working room unplug OD wire attached to lever if app there is a pressed on retaining ring on back of shift linkage coupler lever bracket remove carefully inter net said to use dremel to cut ring if possible I had to beat it off with hammer and chainsaw tool using flathead part as chisel regular screw driver handle absorbed too much of the impact remember steering column is made of same material as broken part so use extreme caution when hammering remove lever with ball end from back of bracket you will need to reuse this part new part dorman 905-104 local parts house can reference number napa has different part # this part is for explorer could not find any other replacement part on internet called dorman no part number for expedition dealer sells part as part of steering column 1500.00 no seperate part available you need right angle snap ring pliers and some aluminum foil to make bushing wrap aluminum foil around part until part fits fairly snug install snap ring reassemble steering column not sure if the correct part is available any where at all saved 1450.00 dollars this way I DO NOT RECOMMEND MODIFYING PARTS TO REPAIR THINGS THIS IS JUST WHAT I DID TO FIX IT., I DO NOT ACCEPT ANY LIABILITY FOR YOUR DECISION TO FOLLOW ANY OF THESE SUGGESTIONS ANY AND ALL DECISIONS TO TAKE STEPS TO REPAIR YOUR VEHICLE ARE YOURS AND YOURS ALONE
