Well, for the second time in one year the shift cable has burned through where it crosses over the exhaust manifold. The cable has an aluminum shield that rides right on the exhaust pipe connection to the manifold and the shield burns thru and then the cable burns through. I can't get an answer from ford without paying for the answer. Last year when this happened we were camped in Taos NM in an area with no cell service and a ford dealer which was closed on weekends. It took four days to get a part and have it installed. Had to pay shipping and the whole mess cost over three hundred dollars in addition to missing three days work back home. The vehicle is in the shop today a sunday waiting for monday when ford can be contacted to see if and when we can get a new cable.
I can't find anywhere that ford will admit this is a problem, and I can't believe I'm the only one this could have happened to. I would like to know how to make ford pay for this obvious flaw.
