This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
While at a busy intersection, the vehicle engine revved and lurched forward requiring extra brake pressure to avoid collision. The rpms were over 1500 at a stop. This is the second incident and the dealer has been contacted.
While at a stop vehicle revs up and lurches forward even though you have your foot on the brake. Also while driving the tachometer revs up for about a minute then goes back to normal.
On several separate occasions the engine has revved upon depression or release of the brakes. This causes the vehicle to lurch forward unexpectedly. The radio also becomes louder as if the speed sensitive volume is affected as well. I have notified the dealer but as they have been unable to duplicate the problem, they have not responded. Please help as I fear that this will eventually cause an accident.
Dealer said the ingnition switch sticking between start and run was the cause of many problems but the safety issue is that the vehicle suddenly lurched when at a stop. Engine raced and much pressure was required on the brake to restop vehicle. If there had been a stopped vehicle in front of me - I would have struck it.
On four occasions when applying brakes, and just before stopping, engine would surge and suddenly accelerate. Vehicle been to dealer, and dealer was unable to duplicate the problem. Feel free to provide any further information.
