With so many Expedition owners experiencing this problem, I fail to understand why Ford will not repair these in good faith for the customer. The odometer is a much needed part of the vehicle. When it blacks out there is no record of the mileage. Ford is aware this happens in 1998 - 2012 models and still refuses to fix the issue that was created when it was made in the factory.
