After parking the vehicle in the driveway, some fifteen minutes later the vehicle had flames coming from the hood. The consumer stated, the brake fluid leaked out of the cruise control onto the wiring harness.
My wife parked our 2000 Ford Expedition at work around 8:30 a.M. two hours later it was on fire. After many conversations with marshall mize Ford they told me that the cause of the fire started in the brake system. They said that brake fluid leaked on my manifold and sparked a flame causing my car to burst into flames. I was under the impression that brake fluid was not flammable, especially after sitting for two hours it should not have even been hot enough. My truck was fixed and we have not had any problems with it yet. The fire started in the engine compartment on the left side. The fire was quickly put out causing there to be only $6500 in damage. Parts replaced consist of the main wiring harness, the components of the brake system under the hood, and the cruise control system. If needed we can fax a complete invoice of all parts and labor.
